December 2005 - Holiday Meal
Students sat down together at Clancy’s, a longstanding Omaha kung fu hangout, to share a meal and camaraderie to celebrate the holiday season. In addition to eating, students shared kung fu stories, enjoyed each other’s company, and presented their sifu with a gift.
October 2005 – Class Demonstration
Students from the Moy Yat Ving Tsun Kung Fu School of Omaha staged a kung fu demonstration for a group of 7th graders from the Elkorn schools who were studying China. The demonstration not only allowed the students to see kung fu in action by giving them hands-on training experiences, including practicing basic forms and drills, but it allowed them to gain a greater appreciation of the history and traditions of kung fu and its central place in Chinese culture.

October 2005 - Workout with Master Moy Yat Tung
Master Moy Yat Tung once again visited the Omaha school for a weekend of workouts and interaction with his "grand students." The weekend workout focused on some of the details of Ving Tsun’s U-Mah (phonetic) concept—loosely translated as whole body connectedness—as an extension of the series of kung fu “conversations” that Master Moy Yat Tung began with Omaha’s Ving Tsun community in July of 2003. Attendees received hands-on kung fu instruction directly from Master Moy Yat Tung. Ving Tsun enthusiasts from Chicago, IL, Iowa City, IA, Lincoln, NE, St. Louis, MO, and Virginia Beach, VA attended.
September 2005 - Grandmaster Moy Tung Seminar
Students from the Omaha Moy Yat Ving Tsun Kung Fu School traveled to the Moy Yat Ving Tsun School of Iowa City for a weekend seminar conducted by Grandmaster Moy Tung. Over the course of the three-day seminar, Grandmaster Moy Tung's “grand students” and "great-grand students" participated in extensive kung fu workouts, including physical training, lectures, and social events. The topic of Grandmaster Moy Tung's small-group workshops was “Advanced Basic Training.”
August 2005 - School BBQ
On August 27th, students celebrated the "End of Summer" with a barbecue hosted by Jim and Nora Johnson. Following a cookout, students spent time around a campfire sharing stories and listening to music.
August 2005 - Lincoln Workout (Lincoln, NE)
Students from the Omaha Moy Yat Ving Tsun Kung Fu School visited Lincoln, NE to join the Lincoln Moy Yat Kung Fu Club for a day of workouts. The workout gave both Omaha and Lincoln kung fu students an opportunity to train their kung fu with "different" training partners allowing them an opportunity study their kung fu "under another light"
in order to refine their technique further. Before heading back to Omaha all participants sat down and shared a meal.
August 2005 - Virginia Beach Workout
Ving Tsun students from across the United States gathered in Virginia Beach, VA for a week of training conducted under the supervision of Master Moy Yat Tung. The Omaha School was represented. Students participated in extensive conditioning exercises, forms training, and two-man workouts (including practicing forms and playing chi sao at the beach and in the ocean). Students also made a day trip to the kung fu school in Richmond, VA, to train with Grandmaster Moy Tung.
July 2005 - School Dinner
On July 22nd, following their in-class training, students met to share a meal to celebrate and to wish good luck to one of their kung fu brothers, Tim Dinin, who will be (temporarily) leaving the School to enroll this Fall at Hofstra Law School in Long Island, NY. In addition to enjoying each other's company, students ate Chinese take out from one of Tim's favorite restaurants, China Road.
June 2005 - Grandmaster Moy Tung Seminar (Detroit, MI)
Students from the Omaha Moy Yat Ving Tsun Kung Fu school joined students from Moy Yat schools from around the country in visiting the school in Detroit, MI for three days of kung fu training and social activities. The weekend workout provided another opportunity for Omaha's Ving Tsun community to receive kung fu instruction directly from Grandmaster Moy Tung and his direct disciples (including Master Moy Yat Tung as well as several sifus from the Richmond Kung Fu Academy). Topics included a discussion of Ving Tsun's jong and kwan forms.
June 2005 - Workout with Sisuk Bart Yates
Sisuk Bart Yates, a senior disciple of Master Moy Yat Tung, visited the Omaha school for a weekend of kung fu workouts. The workouts gave Omaha's Ving Tsun community another opportunity to train with an experienced kung fu practitioner. In addition to training kung fu, Sisuk Yates is the author of two works of fiction, including the recently published novel "The Brothers Bishop," and is the recipient of the 2004 Alex Award from the American Library Association. May 6, 7, & 8, 2005 - Workout with Master Moy Yat Tung
Master Moy Yat Tung visited the Omaha school once again for a weekend of workouts and interaction with his "grand students." The weekend workout provided yet another opportunity for Omaha's Ving Tsun community to receive kung fu instruction directly from Master Moy Yat Tung. Topics included a discussion of Ving Tsun's chi sao drill as well as a review and an extension of the concepts Master Moy Yat Tung presented during his previous visits to Omaha. Students from Detroit, MI, Iowa City, IA, Lincoln, NE, Milwaukee, WI, Chicago, IL, and Virginia Beach, VA, attended.
February 25-27, 2005 - Master Moy Yat Tung Workout (Iowa City, IA)
Master Moy Yat Tung, along with several of his direct students, who themselves are kung fu sifus, held a kung fu workshop in Iowa City. The three-day workshop offered several different training sessions, each focusing on a "different" Ving Tsun skill set. Students from Detroit, MI, Iowa City, IA, Lincoln, NE, Omaha, NE, Milwaukee, WI, Chicago, IL, Virginia Beach, VA, Brooklyn, NY, Sheboygan, WI and Burlington, VT attended.
January 2005 - School Dinner
On January 16th, students sat down together at Sushi Ichiban Restaurant to share a meal and camaraderie and to bid a fond (temporary) farewell to one of their kung fu brothers, Airman Travis Crane, who will be spending the next three years in Korea and Japan. In addition to enjoying sushi and sake, students presented Travis with a small gift to remind him of Omaha as he serves overseas.
January 2005 - Iowa City Road Trip II
Students from the Omaha Moy Yat Ving Tsun Kung Fu school visited the school in Iowa City for three days of training and social activities. Departing on Friday, January 14th, students from Omaha worked out with students from Iowa City in their regularly scheduled class, before enjoying an evening out. On Saturday, students from Omaha participated in regularly and specially scheduled classes at the Iowa City school. Sunday gave the Omaha students another opportunity to work out with their "kung fu cousins" and to share a meal before heading back to Omaha. The goal of the trip was to increase a student's exposure to the many faces of Ving Tsun Kung Fu by providing an opportunity to train with students from another Moy Yat Kung Fu school. Such exposure in another way a student may increase his understanding of Ving Tsun Kung Fu.
