December 2006 - Holiday Meal
Once again students and their significant others gathered to celebrate the holiday season and another successful year of kung fu training by sharing a meal and camaraderie at Clancy's, one of the Omaha School's favorite establishments. In addition to eating, students shared kung fu stories, enjoyed each other's company, and presented their sifu with a gift.
December 2006 - Grandmaster Moy Tung Seminar
Students from the Omaha Moy Yat Ving Tsun Kung Fu School traveled to the Moy Yat Ving Tsun School of Iowa City for a seminar conducted by Grandmaster Moy Tung. Over the course of the week-long event, Grandmaster Moy Tung's "grand students" and "great-grand students" participated in extensive kung fu workouts, including physical training, lectures, and social events. As a culmination to the seminar, students were treated to special command performance by Iowa City musician Niki Lunden.
November 2006 - Workout with Master Moy Yat Tung
Master Moy Yat Tung again visited the Omaha school for a weekend of workouts and interaction with his "grand students." The weekend workout focused on some of the details of Ving Tsun's Poc Dar and Don Chi Sao drills extending the continuing kung fu "conversation" Master Moy Yat Tung began with Omaha's Ving Tsun community in July 2003. The numerous attendees received hands-on kung fu instruction directly from Master Moy Yat Tung. Ving Tsun enthusiasts from Brooklyn, NY, Denver, CO, Detroit, MI, Iowa City, IA, Lincoln, NE, Milwaukee, WI, Minneapolis, MN, St. Louis, MO, and Virginia Beach, VA attended.
August 2006 - Grandmaster Moy Tung Seminar (Virginia Beach, VA)
Grandmaster Moy Tung held a seminar for Ving Tsun students from across the United States in Virginia Beach, VA, on August 26, 2006. Four generations of Grandmaster Moy Tung's students, including Master Moy Yat Tung and numerous Ving Tsun sifus from across the country, were in attendance to participate in training exercises created and led by Grandmaster Moy Tung. The Omaha School was represented.
July 2006 - Iowa City Road Trip III
Students from the Omaha Moy Yat Ving Tsun Kung Fu school traveled to Iowa City for two days of training and social activities. Arriving on Friday, July 14th, students from Omaha worked out with students from Iowa City in their regularly scheduled class, before enjoying an evening out. On Saturday, students from the Omaha school participated in a specially scheduled class at the Iowa City school before heading back to Omaha. The goal of the trip was to offer students an opportunity to train Ving Tsun kung fu with numerous different training partners. By offering training with students from another Moy Yat Kung Fu school, an Omaha student has the opportunity to be exposed to a different kung fu perspective. Such exposure in another way a student at the Moy Yat Ving Tsun Kung Fu school of Omaha may increase his understanding of Ving Tsun Kung Fu.
May 18 2006 – Grandmaster Moy Tung Seminar (Detroit, MI)
Grandmaster Moy Tung conducted a kung fu seminar to commemorate the grand opening of the Ving Tsun school in Detroit. High-level Ving Tsun practitioners, including Master Moy Yat Tung, joined students from around the country in attending the seminar and the surrounding festivities.
February 2006 - Master Moy Yat Tung Workout (Iowa City, IA)
Master Moy Yat Tung, assisted by several of his senior students—many of whom are themselves kung fu sifus, held a three-day kung fu workshop in Iowa City. The workshop offered several different training sessions, each focusing on different details drawn from Ving Tsun’s Siu Lim Tao form. Students from Brooklyn, NY, Chicago, IL, Detroit, MI, Iowa City, IA, Lincoln, NE, Omaha, NE, Milwaukee, WI, Minneapolis, MN, New Haven, CT, St. Louis, MO, and Virginia Beach, VA attended.
